| Application Process and Dates |
|
Application deadline: None (rolling admissions). Applications are reviewed in the order received, and the university endeavors to notify all applicants of their admission status as soon as possible after all application materials are received by the Admissions Office. An acceptance letter and an I-20 form cannot be released to a student until all admission requirements are met.

| Application Materials |
|
In addition to the application, the following credentials must be filed with the University of West Alabama, Office of Admissions, Station 4, Livingston, AL 35470 USA in order for an international student to be considered for admission.
|

1. |
Application Fee. A non-refundable $50.00 application fee. If this fee is paid by a check or money order from outside the U.S., it must state on the document the name of a U.S. bank through which it is payable.

2. |
Biographical Statement. A short biographical statement with photograph attached.
|

3. |
ACT or SAT Test Scores. College entrance exam scores from either the American College Testing (ACT) Program or the Scholastic Aptitude Test (SAT). The ACT may be taken on this campus after your arrival if these tests are not available in your home country.

4. |
Official High School Transcript. An official high school or secondary school transcript indicating superior preparation and notice of graduation. All applicants must provide this transcript and it must be a certified copy containing a complete listing of all secondary work completed.

5. |
Official College Transcript/Transfer Students. An official transcript indicating all college work completed. A student who has previously attended a college or university must have an official transcript sent directly from each college attended to the Office of Admissions. (Transcripts are not accepted from students). If an applicant is currently enrolled, one transcript must be submitted at the time of application and a final transcript at the conclusion of the term.
The University does not conduct internal evaluations of credits earned at institutions outside of the U.S. College credit from foreign institutions must be evaluated by the World Education Service before transfer credit can be awarded. The evaluation should be forwarded directly from WES to the UWA Registrar. The cost of this evaluation will be the responsibility of the student.

TOEFL Score. Acceptable scores from the Test of English as
Foreign Language (TOEFL). Undergraduates must earn a minimum score of at least 500 on the paper-based test or 175 on the computer-based test. Graduates must earn a minimum of 550 on the paper test or 220 on the computer test. The TOEFL code number for The University of West Alabama is 1737. Satisfactory scores in English on the ACT or SAT may be accepted to satisfy this requirement. This requirement will not be waived.

A Statement of Financial Support. This financial statement must be completed by both your sponsor, indicating his/her willingness to finance your education, and your sponsor’s bank, verifying that your sponsor has the ability to finance your studies. This figure of
$18,000 quoted on the Statement of Financial Support is the total estimated cost a foreign student will incur during an academic year at the University of West Alabama. This amount includes expenses for tuition, fees, room and board, books and supplies, travel, clothing, and all other personal expenses. This amount will be entered on your I-20 form as the estimated cost of attending the University of West Alabama for one academic year ( twelve months). The

Deposit. A
deposit of $500 to be paid in escrow as a guarantee for any
emergencies which the student may encounter while enrolled. As
a means of demonstrating financial ability, a non-resident of
the United States has an option of depositing $1,500 into an
escrow account with the University, or to make full payment of
all University obligations by certified check, cash, or a
check drawn on a local bank where the University can verify
funds availability within 5 days after registration. An
international student electing to maintain the $1,500 deposit
may be granted the normal payment schedule afforded to
resident students. Acceptance to the University cannot be
granted until the $500 deposit is received. |

Proof of Insurance. University approved health and accident insurance for the student, the student’s spouse and other family members, if any. (Information on approved health insurance plan will be sent upon acceptance to the University.) |

10. |
School of Nursing. All applicants who are planning to enroll in the Nursing Program must file an application for admission to the School of Nursing in addition to applying for admission to the University. Admission to the University of West Alabama does not imply admission to the School of Nursing. Application forms for admission to the Nursing Program may be obtained by writing or calling the Admissions Office or the School of Nursing. |
| Admission Decisions |

After these credentials are on file, the student’s application will be reviewed by the Admissions Office and a decision made. An acceptance letter and an I-20 form cannot be released to a student until all of the above admission requirements are met. |
