Recognizing that a 21st century education requires knowledge of people and countries beyond one’s local, state, and national borders, the University of West Alabama looks to providing a greater diversity of cultures on campus through the energetic recruitment of international students. The faculty, staff, and students are eager to make welcome all international students who choose to pursue their academic goals at UWA. Because the university is small, you will find that professors can take a more personal interest in you and your classmates and will make themselves available to assist with your questions outside of class. The university’s small size also encourages a very close and friendly student community, into which you can more easily integrate. The student population consists of domestic students from throughout the United States and international students from 14 different nations. As an international student, you are likely to find some unique challenges and opportunities as you adjust to a new culture and environment.
